Travel to Budapest by plane
Fly to Budapest Liszt Ferenc International Airport (BUD).
The center of Budapest is Deák Ferenc tér. This is where three of the four metro lines (numbers 1,2 and 3) meet. Note that it is on the Pest side (East bank of the Danube) of the city while the conference venue is on the Buda side (West bank of the Danube). To get to the city center from the airport, you have a number of options.
- Cheap and quick option: take Bus number 100E at the airport and get off at the last stop at Deák Ferenc tér. Simply exit the terminal and find the bus stop 100E. Unless you know what you are doing, do NOT take 200E, it is much slower and takes you to the metro stop from where you need to take the metro. Note that the regular bus ticket is not valid on bus 100E. Instead, you need to purchase a ticket at the bus stop from a ticket machine for 2200HUF (cca. 6EUR) or inside the bus using a contactless card (including phone). Budapest transit people are there to help operate the machine, it accepts bank cards.
- Minibud airport shuttle.
- Take a taxi at the airport.
